ExcuseApp is an in-house product by GOLLE IT — developed as a creative side project that showcases the team's AI voice and app development expertise. From concept to UI/UX design to the finished product: everything from a single source.
Everyone knows the feeling: a meeting that won't end, a date gone wrong, or a conversation you just need to escape. The idea was simple — an app that generates a convincingly real phone call at the tap of a button to gracefully rescue you from any situation. The challenge: the call has to feel absolutely real.
Not a pre-recorded clip, but an AI-powered voice agent that holds a natural conversation and reacts to the other person.
We built ExcuseApp as a cross-platform app with Flutter for iOS and Android. The backend runs entirely on Supabase — authentication via SMS login, Edge Functions for business logic, and PostgreSQL as the database.
The core is the AI voice agent: users choose from realistic scenarios like "Urgent boss call", "Family emergency", or "Roommate lockout" — each with its own AI voice and personality. The timer is flexible (5 min, 15 min, 30 min, or custom up to 24h). At the scheduled time, the AI agent calls and holds a convincing, natural conversation.
